Cholon, originally founded 11 miles from Saigon by Chinese fleeing from Bien Hoa, was in 1969 and still is a major district (5th) of Saigon. Camp Le Van Duyet (C.M.A.C.) was located in Cholon. See above link for more information regarding Cholon.

The US Post Exchange (PX) in Cholon was the main
source of imported goods into the military (as well as the civilian) economy.
One could tell there was a new shipment of air conditioners, refrigerators,
etc., arriving by the Thai and Korean radio jeeps at the warehouse gate.
Sometimes their interest was so keen it resulted in a armed standoff which had
to be brokered up my US MPs. On the right is a picture of one of the stalls in
